THE BASICS OF ESTABLISHING PERSONHOOD FOR UNBORN.
States already have existing laws on the books against the intentional killing of a human being, a person. State Personhood Amendments officially declare in a state's constitution (state legislature can't change it) that an unborn child is a person legally from the moment of fertilization. Hence, the intentional killing of an unborn child is automatically murder. The only potential exception to this would be to save the life of the mother. Constitutional Amendments are only one way, but a key way, in establishing the legal personhood status for unborn children.
Today, Dave remains a consultant and strategist in the pro-life, pro-family, and constitutionalist movements.
NEXT SECTION: Dave's Childhood.
PHOTO: Of Dave as a child in a green shirt and knit hat.
Dave grew up Southern Baptist in the Deep South Bible Belt of the Mississippi Gulf Coast where Church, Country-living, respect for all people, the beach and coastal breezes were in his blood. Where the concept of 'making a difference' or 'making your mark' in the world was more about serving others and reaching them with the Truth of God's Salvation and the American way of life. Just as Jesus (Yeshua) states, all the laws of God can be summarized into two points: Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind and Love Your Neighbor as Yourself (as you would want to be treated). This being the central purpose of the Bible: to show us the way to live in right relationship with God and our fellow man.
PHOTOS: Various photos of Dave's parents.
Dave's parents were true living examples of this lifestyle, living a life of strong faith and service to family, to God and his people, duty and service to the community and country. This also included an insatiable passion for learning (researching and figuring things out), included entrepreneurship (making your own way), and in the fact that you can do anything you set your mind to. More importantly, doing things in Christ (in God's Will) you can do things expeditiously and extremely productive because you are following a perfect God's perfect plan and with God's perfect Light to illuminate your way, and His strong wind to always give full power to your sails/efforts.
Dave's parents' first date was at a Youth for Christ meeting. Dave says they were very active Christian lay leaders in church and Southern Baptist work and even did missions work in France before he was born. Dave notes that he grew up with his parents as leaders in a very large revival movement called "Lay Renewal Weekends," often traveling to churches all over the South helping spark revival, renewal, and rededication of church members. Being a boy growing up in this movement, he said, made a huge impact in his life - later training to do the same.
PHOTOS: Various childhood photos of Dave. One in a baseball uniform. Another in a fishing boat with his dad. Another from an article about Dave selling a newspaper called: Grit (which was an old fashion positive family newspaper).
Dave has often said he had a 'Mark Twain - Jerry Clower type of Childhood' - full of colorful genuine country folks and wonderful grand country-side adventures. With a sweet and cute first-grade, blonde curly-headed girlfriend called 'Tulia' and a best friend growing up named 'Chambo' - you might kind of get a glimpse into this.
As a boy, he was raised in the country and grew up playing baseball, running bare foot through the woods, climbing trees, building forts, shooting squirrels, rabbits, and black birds - catching crawdads, and fishing. Dave worked the small family farm, personally raising chickens and managing a small vineyard.
Every fourth of July, Dave said, QUOTE. "He and his brothers would shoot off fireworks, and have bottle rocket wars with the kids down the street, on occasion lighting on fire the cow pasture across the street (and putting it out). Summertime M80 firecracker bombing of fire-ant hills was common. You stick a broom handle down the ant hill, pull it out, and drop a lit M80 firecracker down the hole and then POOF!" UNQUOTE. he said with a big smile.
As a boy, he did house electrical work, farmed, worked on cars, sold newspapers, and had a bike repair shop for the neighborhood kids out of the family garage. His brothers and dad all had car projects of their own. He learned about fixing cars through helping them when he was young, and later in life he repaired his own. Self sufficiency, fixing things when they broke, and figuring things out were a part of the standard way of living in his family.
NEXT TOPIC.
PHOTO: Royal Ambassador Patch.
Instead of Boy Scouts, Southern Baptist have "Royal Ambassadors" for boys - which did much of the same, Dave said. QUOTE. "But it taught a much more in-depth foundation from the Bible of how to be a good citizen, good Christian, and strong Godly man of honor." UNQUOTE. The Motto comes from 2nd Corinthians chapter 5 verse 20 - 'I am an Ambassador of Christ.'" Dave says he still remembers the Royal Ambassador Pledge by heart today, and still considers himself a Royal Ambassador for Christ. Without referencing anything he quoted it: QUOTE "As a Royal Ambassador, I will do my best to become a well informed, responsible follower of Christ. To have a Christ-like concern for all people. To learn how the message of Christ is carried around the world. To work with others in sharing Christ. And to keep myself clean and healthy in mind and body." UNQUOTE
NEXT TOPIC - They Had a Dream and I was Living It.
Most people equate the South with racism and prejudice. Well over one-third of Mississippi's population has an African heritage.
Dave recounts his experiences: QUOTE. "While I did run into clear racism on occasion, it was mostly with some older folks, who by now most have pass away. I am proud to say that I grew up in a respectful community, due in large part to the efforts of the Civil Rights Movement and also strong influence of the patriotic and service-oriented military community and military retirees. The Dream they all had of passing on a better life to their children - I was living it. They had a dream. Racism or prejudice never entered my life and my parents raised me strictly to always be respectful of all people. I had many good role models in my childhood from people of all races, colors, and creeds. - Thank God! There are some very beautiful people made of strong character and values who I still remember today." UNQUOTE.
NEXT TOPIC. Dave admits he was a dare-devil as a child and did bold and sometimes dangerous things. When he got his bicycle he would ride up to 3 miles away on adventures - while remembering his mother's ultimate law: QUOTE. "just be home by sundown." UNQUOTE. Dave continued: QUOTE. "With more than 8 broken bones, a few remaining visible scars, countless bruises and stitches, too many visits to count to the emergency room, and hundreds of great memories... God, my parents, and my two much older brothers watched after me, keeping me safe despite my extremely bold, curious, and adventurous nature." "And yes, I do know who Evel Knievel is," UNQUOTE. he said with a smile.
NEXT SECTION: Writing and Story Telling.
Dave grew up listening to great Southern, Cajun, and Baptist comedians like Jerry Clower, Justin Wilson, and Grady Nutt which helped give him a unique humorous and optimistic outlook in life. The Ray Stevens video to the right, about the Mississippi Squirrel that went to Church, actually did take place (although embellished) in a nearby town at First Baptist Church of Pascagoula. Dave also had a similar experience when his family's big fluffy Persian cat called "Smokie" secretly hitched a ride in the family car to church one Sunday and got into the church service. Dave was the one chasing the cat around the sanctuary. Dave: "Yes, the best story telling and humor often comes from real life."
PHOTO of Dave in Liberty, Mississippi where the famous Southern comedian, Jerry Clower, used to frequent.
PHOTO and VIDEO of Will Rogers, famous 1920-30s American Comedian, Entertainer, and Political Humorist. QUOTE. "I never met a man I didn't like." UNQUOTE. said Will Rogers.
Dave, being distantly related to Will Rogers, it appears that original, custom homemade humor and colorful story telling also ran in Dave's blood. From a young age, Dave tells that QUOTE. "I had a unique part of my brain, which I called the 'funny lobe,' constantly viewing the world around me submitting jokes. Often these jokes were corny - but they were me, and at other times they bombed, and crashed and burned - yet sometimes there were some good and memorable ones. I always loved to hear people's stories about their lives and remembered the best ones that I have woven into my own." UNQUOTE.
ANIMATED PHOTO: Dave with a friend, goofing around and making funny faces at a pizza place in Austin, Texas.
QUOTE. "I attribute my good writing skills to my dad and my great English teachers. My great-grandad Stanberry was a teacher and principal. My Dad was raised by his mother and his grandad Stanberry. Growing up my Dad was a grammar nazi to me - strict in everything proper in language (as he was trying to prepare me for life). I've often said he was so strict, that a neighbor's house could be burning down and he would stop me if I used incorrect grammar before calling the fire department. While not exactly true, my Dad was a grammar nazi - which later in life and writing ended up being a very, very huge blessing in my life." UNQUOTE.
Today, Dave tends to use his writing and researching skills along with his technical skills in producing websites on various subjects. Dave writes music, short stories, poetry, produces videos, and writes books on various topics and interests.
NEXT SECTION: Teenage - Young Adult Years.
ROW OF PHOTOS: Photo #1) Dave standing with nice shirt on the sidewalk with oak trees in the background.
Photo #2) Dave holding his new niece and sitting next to his Grandma. Photo #3) Dave with his other Grandpa and Grandma. Photo #4) Dave with college ministry colleagues.
As a teenager, Dave moved into town with his parents near the beach where he lost his strong country twang (accent). As a country boy you'd often see him barefoot (much to his mother's chagrin), but now as a Country Beach Boy he still remained barefoot when at all possible, just now more naturally at the beach and maybe with flip-flops. Life became tough living and working along the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast (that's satire). Even as a boy he listened to Beach Boys music (due to his brothers' influence) and today he still wears his prescription RayBan sunglasses from high school. Cruising with friends, music up, the windows down became his favorite pastime. Saying hello to others in downtowns of cities and soaking up the salt air driving up and down the beach highway (25 miles long) or along on old bridges or parking at scenic locations was a healthy part of his youth and young adult years. And today, he still views it as his favorite thing to do.
PHOTOS: #1) Dave sitting on the beach. Photo #2) Dave in an original Blue and white flower Hawaiian Shirt. Image #3) Caricature of Dave sitting in an office chair on the beach at a desk with a computer and monitor. Palm tree and seagulls in the background.
Dave began singing at age 4 and was a 'choir boy' in high school, church, and in the community. Being technically inclined and trusted by school and church staff, Dave ran the high school sound system, never needing a 'hall pass,' and had keys to the church where he was an assistant to the youth minister at age 14. With a church of 800 and a youth group of over 60, Dave also managed, cleaned, and repaired the church's large two-story activities building that included a full basketball court, skating rink, pool tables, foosball, gym, and of course ping pong table.
Dave says he has a 'Doctorate Degree in This Old House,' pointing to being an avid watcher and practitioner of home repair, electrical, construction, drafting and design in his teen to young adult years. Dave had worked with Habitat for Humanity and many other community projects in addition to kitchen and bathroom re-designs with family and friends. In middle school, Dave had taken 3 years of shop where he learned everything from wood-working, to welding, to leather-working. In his third year, Dave said he even had keys to the shop building, having been proven trustworthy and reliable with his shop teacher.
Dave summarized his favorite activities: QUOTE. "In Recreation: sailing, fishing, wilderness hiking and camping. In Sports: tennis and softball. In Music: I mostly sing, but I did learned the Scottish Bagpipes, snare drum, flute, and I play a little piano and acoustical guitar. I love making up songs 'on the fly' and rewriting lyrics to songs for both humor and serious purposes." UNQUOTE.

A few years after Hurricane Katrina (2005), Dave headed out West and lived in Wyoming and Texas for about 9 years, getting a thorough indoctrination in true cowboy culture, the rocky mountains, and high plains. While admitting to having a cowboy hat, he said he still tends to be more of a baseball cap type of guy.

During Dave's 7 years in Wyoming, he says he spent as much time as possible in the wilderness, high in the Rocky Mountains and high plains, studying the Bible and working on a series of Christian books on various topics including basic discipleship. Dave said, QUOTE. "It appears God needed to get me away from my busy life as a Christian leader on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to teach me and pour into me, training me for the next stage of my life in ministry." UNQUOTE.

In 2017, Dave returned to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where he resides today. In October 2023, Dave celebrated his 40th Anniversary of being a sold-out disciple of Jesus (Yeshua). He believes God has been preparing him for 40 years, and now is just beginning the real ministry of his life's full calling, but at a more epic level.

NEXT SECTION: Military Service.
MUSIC VIDEO entitled: "Because of the Brave" ... "we are the land of the free." Sung by Soul Circus Cowboys.
Military service, leadership, ethics, and honor in support of liberty runs very deep in Dave's family.
Three of Dave's Granddads served in World Wars 1 and 2 in the Navy, Army, and Army Air Corps. Dave's Dad was Air Force and his Uncle Army, both served in Vietnam. Dave served in the U.S. Marine Corps during peace time.
Dave's family patriotism and military service in America goes back as far as the 1770s in support of American Liberty. In Scotland, Dave's family led the fight for independence against the English. In far Northern England (Northumbria), just south of the Scottish border, his ancestor was one of the signers of the Magna Carta, a declaration of rights in restraint of the tyranny of the English King.
Dave said, QUOTE. "A family history of fighting tyranny for over 900 years can have a very powerful and deep impact on one's outlook and mission in life." UNQUOTE.

Dave's Dad joined the Air Force at age 17 and served as an electronics communications officer doing his twenty (retiring after 20 years). Being a son of an electronics and early computer geek rubbed off on Dave. Out back of his childhood home, next to the chicken coop was the shop / tool shed - he said - where you'd see a healthy supply of everything needed to run their small family farm and a gigantic workbench with electronics equipment, soldering irons, and circuit boards. Dave shares that his dad, still being very much a nerd, bought all the first computers, video game consoles, video tape recorders, and cameras. Dave comments, QUOTE. "This was how I was raised. This is why I am a computer and technical geek today." UNQUOTE.
PHOTO OF DAVE fresh out of the Marines, still with a Marine Corps "High and Tight" hair cut.
Dave recounts why he joined the Marine Corps: QUOTE. "When I told my dad I had joined the Marines, his face went white, for he knew the challenges and sacrifices Marines make in being the first in the fight, the first on the frontline into battle. That is why I joined. I wanted to be the true American role-model to the people of that land, the true American diplomat representing the best of who we are. A Godly man of faith who lives it and shows it to the people at home and overseas. For many of those people often hear about Americans, but when they are in a war-time crisis and they meet a real one, they get to genuinely know what a true American is by the actions of an American Soldier." UNQUOTE.
Dave continued saying: QUOTE. "I get idealistic streaks of inspiration and truth sometimes, like in saying that we need more authentic Christian Americans on the frontlines, yet one day I looked closely in the mirror and realized, if not me then who. If this idea is so great for others then why would it not also apply to me, so I joined up. My service was cut short by a serious injury, yet in my short time marked deeply into my soul forever and helped make me the man I am today. God saw me shine. God saw me prove my heart and passion to serve others, even to the point of being willing to lay down my life, and to give my full effort in making a difference. This time was only one hallmark on my journey of over 40 years of being a sold-out disciple of Christ. Life is good. Life is sweet. Life is fragile. People are precious. God makes everything beautiful and abundant and true - if we let him." UNQUOTE.

QUOTE. "One main thing I learned during my time in the Marine Corps. When I was at my physical peak, being close to the level of an Olympic athlete, and easily doing an under 6 minute mile...
with all that energy and all that strength and all that potential... without God directing me, guiding my life and my path, I would remain like a spinning top, always expending energy, time and effort - always wobbling around, making uncertain and unplanned directional changes, but never achieving, never accomplishing, never obtaining what was best for me, best for my family, best for my country. Power, strength, time and energy are tools God can use to perfection when it is used in God's Will - and the fruit or outcome becomes one hundred to a thousand times greater because the perfect God designed the perfect outcome and we followed it." FAVORITE VERSES.
First Verse. From the Book of James, Chapter 1, verse 5. Speaking is James, half-brother to Jesus (Yeshua) and Leader of the first church in Jerusalem:
QUOTE. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives freely and without holding back, and it will be given to him.” UNQUOTE.
Second Verse. ECCLESIASTIES Chapter 12, Verse 13.
QUOTE. “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.“ UNQUOTE. to “FEAR” means to respect, honor and be accountable.
Third Verse is John Chapter 3, Verse 8. It is Jesus (Yeshua) speaking here:
QUOTE. “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” UNQUOTE.
Dave comments, QUOTE. "This verse is a perfect glimpse into the life of a disciple, how God operates, and why the number one priority for a disciple is to know and hear God’s Voice. The next follows: to stay listening to God at all times and to keep doing what he says at all times. God’s organization is the most dynamic on Earth. Like the top general who commands each person directly, God is able to meet the needs of an ever changing world. What one did yesterday, or even an hour ago, may not be what you do right now. This is the foundation of living or walking ‘in the Spirit." UNQUOTE.
LIFE MOTTOS.
Dave's First Motto is, QUOTE. “Seek First the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness… and everything else works out.” UNQUOTE.
This is Dave's paraphrasing of Jesus (Yeshua) in Matthew Chapter 6, Verse 33.
DAVE SHARED: QUOTE. "It became a beacon and hallmark motto to my life, especially in troubled times, to help me stay focused and to feel comforted." UNQUOTE.
Dave's Second Motto is, QUOTE. “When God Blesses… (pause). Get Used to It!” UNQUOTE.
DAVE SHARED: QUOTE. "When people tell me, 'God bless you,' I often reply, 'too late, He already has.'" He says: "The closer you get to God, you live a life full of genuine, life-changing and life-fulfilling blessings direct from Him." UNQUOTE.
Dave's Third Motto is, QUOTE. "You Can Do What You Can Do, and You Can't Do What You Can't Do." "Don't worry about what you didn't get done today. As long as you gave your very best effort, you can rest in the peace with confidence that it was destined to be done tomorrow." UNQUOTE.
Dave's Forth and best-est Motto is, QUOTE. "Love God with Passion!"
DAVE SAID: "I would say this has become my number one motto in life: Love God with Passion!"
"God is a real person, with real feelings, and desires a true and authentic relationship with us. He wants to be a true part of our life and our partner in it. If you say you love God, then 'love Him with all your heart, soul, and mind' - as Jesus (Yeshua) said in Matthew Chapter 22, verse 37. If you don't feel passionate about God, but know you should, ask God to light that eternal flame deep inside you for Him - for He will. When we recognize problems in our life or things that should be in our character that aren't - that don't match up to the Bible - ask God to make it happen. Since God built us, designed us, and knows us best - and knows how to repair us and touch the most deepest parts to ourselves we didn't even know existed.
God can ignite your passion for Him. Why live a dull life with God? Why live an average life? God can give you an eternal, passionate, burning desire for him that will power you, strengthen you, sustain you, energize you, light and illuminate the way, and shine to all those around you. Love God with Passion!" UNQUOTE.
